State Folk Song and Dance Ensemble "MAZOWSZE"
The State Folk Song and Dance Ensemble "Mazowsze" was founded in 1948. It was founded by Tadeusz Sygietyński, a Polish composer and conductor, a man who loved folklore and loved Poland. From this love, "Mazowsze" was born, an ensemble that completely changed the Polish music scene and continues to change it to this day.
Together with Tadeusz Sygietyński, the group was built from scratch by his future wife Mira Zimińska-Sygietyńska, an actress of the Polish interwar stage. They both gave up their artistic lives and devoted themselves to their passion – saving the music, songs and dances of Polish villages and towns from oblivion. As regular stage guests, they were perfectly aware that the work would reach the recipient only if it was understandable to everyone. That is why "Mazowsze" became something like a theatre, where – in a way that was accessible but not simple; understandable but not boring – Polish folklore was presented in its stylised version.
The fact that they managed to appeal to the tastes of Polish and foreign audiences is evidenced by the fact that "Mazowsze" has survived to this day. Not only has it survived, but it is developing, reaching for new repertoire and delighting the audience wherever it appears. It is the oldest, yet very young ensemble. A place where young, well-educated and thoroughly prepared musicians, singers and dancers experience their adventure of a lifetime.
For their contribution to Polish culture, "Mazowsze" was awarded the title of Ambassador of Polish Culture, and Jerzy Waldorff, an eminent music critic, called the band "the jewel in the crown of the Republic of Poland".
The "Mazowsze" team invites you to their headquarters, which is located just half an hour from Warsaw. In the historic Karolin Park, in Otrębusy, at ul. Świerkowa 2, you will find here a perfect place to organize a company event, spend a family weekend or a stop on the route through the picturesque Mazovian land.
We have a modern theatre building with a theatre hall, conference rooms, foyer and catering facilities. In the twelve-hectare park there is also a palace - the historical seat of "Mazowsze" - currently the Polish Folklore Centre "Karolin", a chamber hall where symphonic and choral concerts are held, but also a hotel, the "Mazowsze" inn, educational trails, walking paths and playgrounds. All this in the quiet buffer zone of the Młochowski Forest creates an amazing atmosphere both for rest and recharging batteries, as well as for fun.
Our auditorium is one of the most modern concert halls in Europe. It is equipped with 560 comfortable seats, with the possibility of increasing the audience to 600 people. The unique structure of the auditorium allows for any arrangement of the hall with an area of 1100 m², including the removal of all armchairs and seats.
