Warsaw, August 28, 2025. – 81 years ago, on August 28, 1944, the fate of one of the capital's most recognizable buildings was marked by the tragedy of war. The Prudential Building – the tallest skyscraper in pre-war Poland and the pride of modernist Warsaw – was hit by a German mortar shell weighing nearly two tons. Although the facade collapsed under the force of the impact, the reinforced concrete structure resisted destruction, becoming not only a witness to the Warsaw Uprising but also a symbol of the city's steadfastness and strength.
