Historic, boutique hotels and apartments in historic buildings in Warsaw
We are pleased to present a new and, we hope, interesting product, which is a material about historic hotels, boutique hotels and apartments, whose common denominator is an extremely interesting history.
The product is intended for people passionate about the history of Warsaw, but above all for domestic and foreign tourists who willingly decide to stay in smaller boutique hotels or apartments. Most of the selected facilities are located in the center of Warsaw or on the Royal Route, often and in large numbers visited by tourists. Others are located away from the center, but due to their originality, history and inspiring motifs, they deserved to be included in the project. In the introduction to the study, we explain the meaning of the definition a historic, boutique hotel and apartment in a historical building, which can make it easier to decide which one to choose. The aim of the prepared study, on the one hand, is to show an alternative stay in the capital, the possibility of meeting the history of old Warsaw, its architecture, authenticity and cultural heritage, and on the other, the desire to inspire our future guests with a visit to the capital.
We were prompted to create this study by conversations with directors of historic hotels in Warsaw and the need to indicate a distinguishing feature for some of them, says Barbara Tutak, president of WOT.
All of the presented places were visited by the project coordinator Katarzyna Siekierzyńska, and a huge contribution to the preparation of the material was made by the owners, directors and concierges of Warsaw hotels, who proudly – during many hours of conversations – told stories from the turn of the century, including about famous Polish politicians, artists, actors, painters and architects.
– During the meetings I felt very clearly that all the mentioned figures are a permanent part of the history of these places – Catherine adds. Courtesy of the Museum of Warsaw, as well as providing photos and pre-war postcards directly from the hotels, the project has been graphically enriched, and the final effect fully reflects the atmosphere and spirit of old pre-war Warsaw. For contrast, photos of recently restored buildings, their interior design and furnishings have been added. Originality, uniqueness, care and attention to detail are the distinguishing features of these proposals. Also noteworthy are the fascinating architectural metamorphoses, where the designers have demonstrated masterful skills in combining history with modern design, without losing the atmosphere of the past.
Initially, 18 facilities were selected for the project, but as Barbara Tutak, President of the Warsaw Tourism Organization, says, the project is open to other hotels that meet the criteria described above. We already know that three openings are planned in Warsaw in 2022; the Hotel in the Branicki and Szaniawski Palace under the Autograph Collection brand, Flaner Hotel Worldhotels Crafted Collection - former Harenda and the MDM hotel. We are very much looking forward to working with them.
We want to use the information contained in the publication to bring closer places with a unique history, encourage people to come and visit Warsaw and return to the tradition of "staying" in Warsaw hotels, which can undoubtedly be called the showcase of Warsaw. - adds the President of WOT.
