We support Ida Świątek in the city zone
The Warsaw Tournament Zone at Agrykola opens next Friday – July 29. On 500 deckchairs you will be able to watch the decisive matches of the largest tennis tournament in Poland – BNP Paribas Poland Open.
Warsaw is the official host city of the only WTA 250 tournament in Poland. The best tennis players from Poland and abroad will play there – in singles and doubles. And above all, it is an opportunity to support the leader of the world ranking – Iga Świątek.
- Many people dreamed of seeing Iga Świątek play live and now it will be possible in our city. We admire her successes, but I am also proud of Iga Świątek's attitude, who speaks out on important issues, such as what is happening in Ukraine. She is a role model for us, not only in sports – says the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafał Trzaskowski. – The decisive matches in the tournament – in which we hope to see Iga Świątek and other representatives of Poland – will be available to all residents of the capital. We have prepared the Warsaw Tournament Zone for them
The zone – created by the city in cooperation with the organizers of the BNP Paribas Poland Open – will be located in Agrykola Park at the foot of Ujazdowski Castle. It will be open from 9:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29, to 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 31. On Friday, at 10:30 a.m., President Trzaskowski will officially open it.
This will not be a tournament of one tennis player
- Competing in front of my home crowd is always something special for me. I am even more glad that a WTA tournament will take place in Warsaw. I hear the support of Polish fans during tournaments all over the world, but this time there will be thousands of them. I hope that together with the other tennis players we will provide a lot of sports emotions – says Iga Świątek.
- We must not forget that this will not be a tournament of one tennis player. Most of the players who will play in the BNP Paribas Poland Open are ranked in the top hundred of the world ranking. This is a guarantee of the sports level. Yulia Putintseva and all the other tennis players have many smaller and bigger successes under their belts and each of them will certainly enter the court with a similar attitude to add a victory in Warsaw to this list. – says Tomasz Swiątek, Tennis Consulting – the tournament organizer.
– I believe that the opportunity to experience sports emotions during our tournament will fuel the love for this discipline among Polish fans even more and, most importantly, inspire young talents to further development. – says Alina Sikora, director of BNP PARIBAS Poland Open.
