The number of refugees from Ukraine is growing

Yesterday alone, three city information points provided assistance to a total of over 28,000 people, which means an increase of approximately 10,000 compared to the previous day.

Refugees arriving in Warsaw in the first wave came to their loved ones already living in Warsaw, now that is changing. They have no accommodation, they don't know anyone. Unfortunately, refugees are in increasingly worse physical and mental shape.

Volunteering, city accommodation and medical assistance

The influx of refugees from Ukraine is not slowing down. On Monday, 14 trains and 117 coaches arrived in Warsaw from the border, and accommodation was provided for 3,262 people – both in places of residence created by Warsaw and by the governor. Warsaw is also working closely with other local governments, and a total of over 100 people have already been transported to other locations.

The Warsaw hotline for refugees from Ukraine is still operating, having received 1,244 calls yesterday alone. And 113 people were served at medical points. So far, 7 children have been born in city hospitals to mothers who have arrived from Ukraine in recent days.

Warsaw residents are still very keen to get involved in helping refugees from Ukraine. So far, almost 8,000 volunteers have signed up, and over 4,000 residents have offered to welcome guests from Ukraine into their homes. The Capital City of Warsaw is currently verifying the applications, over 500 have received positive feedback, and almost 200 families have already welcomed those in need into their homes.

To date, approximately 1,000 children from Ukraine have joined Warsaw educational institutions. Most of them have joined primary schools – 678.
