May(an)among the Royal Route walk

Throughout the long May weekend, Warsaw residents and tourists will be able to use the promenade on the Royal Route. The section from the de Gaulle roundabout to Castle Square will be available to pedestrians and cyclists. Due to the operation of the promenade, as well as the renovation of Trzech Krzyży Square, Warsaw Public Transport buses will be running on detours.

A few days off is a great opportunity for a walk. In Warsaw, you can enjoy the charms and benefits of spring walks, among others, on the Vistula boulevards, in city parks, and from next Saturday also on the Royal Route.

From April 29 to May 7, Nowy Świat and Krakowskie Przedmieście streets – on the section from the palm tree to Zygmunt's column – will be designated exclusively for pedestrians and cyclists. Concrete barriers will be placed at all entrances to the Royal Route (on Ossolińskich, Karowa and Królewska streets).

Traffic on this section will be closed on the night from Friday to Saturday, April 28 to 29, and the basic traffic organization will be restored on Monday, May 8, before dawn.

Changes in traffic

For drivers, access to Świętokrzyska Street through the intersection with Nowy Świat will be maintained at all times – with no turning possible.

Authorized vehicles will enter the closed roads via Tokarzewskiego-Karaszewicza and Bednarska streets. Two-way traffic will be introduced on the latter, and the stopping ban will also be maintained.

Buses will take detours

The arrangement of the promenade will involve changes not only for individual vehicles, but also for Warsaw Public Transport. Buses running along the Royal Route will be directed to changed routes. What's more, during this time, further works will be carried out at Trzech Krzyży Square, which will also affect the course of the detours. From April 29 to May 7 (night lines from the night of April 28 to 29 to the night of May 7 to 8), buses of the following lines 100, 106, 109, 111, 116, 118, 127, 128, 166, 171, 175, 178, 180, 222, 503, 518, E-2, N33, N44 and N83 will change their routes.

In addition to the main detour route of the closed Royal Route, buses running through Trzech Krzyży Square straight ahead (lines E-2, 116, 180, 503) will bypass the closed intersection with Książęca via Krucza and Piękna streets, joining the routes in Al. Ujazdowskie.

Buses of the line 109, 127, 171 to Powiśle they will drive straight through the de Gaulle roundabout, to the link between the Poniatowski Bridge and Wisłostrada. 118 and 166 they will go in both directions along Myśliwiecka, Górnośląska and Piękna streets, and 222 will be shortened from the Mokotów side to the Pl. Trzech Krzyży 07 stop. Buses of the line 108, from the Mokotów side it will still only reach the Książęca stop, and 518 – Świętokrzyska to Emilia Plater.

During the period of the changes in traffic, the stops: Bielańska 01, Foksal 01 and 02, Hotel Bristol 01 and 02, Książęca 04, Ordynacka 01 and 02, Pl. Trzech Krzyży 10, 52 and 54, Pl. Next weekends also with a promenade

From the next weekend, 13-14 May, traffic closures on Krakowskie Przedmieście and Nowy Świat will be introduced every subsequent night from Friday to Saturday. The basic traffic organization will be restored there on Mondays before dawn. The weekend promenade will be available for use in this way until 22 October. Additionally, the Trail will also be available to walkers during extended weekends, i.e. from Thursday to Sunday, 8-11 June and from Saturday to Tuesday, 12-15 August.
