Museums ready to reopen
Due to the pandemic, this year's Museum Night, which is celebrated precisely in connection with International Museum Day, was different from all others. Some of the museums decided to present online. However, Warsaw decided to postpone the event in the form we have come to know, with a crowd of people eager to visit, an atmosphere of waiting and joint sightseeing, and therefore a unique and unrepeatable festival of museums, until next year.
Meanwhile, the capital's cultural institutions are encouraging visitors in a slightly modified form. Adapting to the new situation and preparing for full opening in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. They must equip places of contact with the public with additional security measures (including plastic partitions), change the work mode (shift system, distance between employees), and conduct a review of ventilation and air conditioning equipment. All this requires appropriate preparation, time and additional resources.
The National Museum, the Royal Castle, the Royal Łazienki Museum, the Zachęta National Gallery of Art, the Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, the POLISH Vodka Museum, the Dollhouse Museum, the Museum of Life in the Polish People's Republic and the World of Illusions have opened their hospitable thresholds to us in the new reality and with new hygiene solutions.
From today, you can once again admire the panorama of Warsaw from the viewing terrace of the Palace of Culture and Science. The POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews will invite guests again at the end of June 2020. Other institutions, such as the Warsaw Uprising Museum, the Copernicus Science Centre, the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw and the Museum of Warsaw are still preparing for a new, safe opening.
The new regulations are announced on boards and banners developed together with us, and detailed regulations can be found on the websites of the institutions.
After the opening of hotels and the restaurants that are currently being prepared, it will soon be possible to invite people to visit again.
In the meantime, visit Warsaw museums and follow their invitations on social media.
