Rebuilding the sector and returning to normality – Report “Tourism in Warsaw 2022”

The Warsaw Tourism Organization is pleased to present the latest edition of the annual report "Tourism in Warsaw" prepared by the Warsaw Tourism Office, which brings optimistic data on the recovery of tourism in the capital after the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, Warsaw was visited by nearly 9 million guests, which is a significant increase of 78% compared to the previous year and approaching the pre-pandemic level.

The report details that the dominant groups among foreign tourists were British and German, which is evidence of the city's international attractiveness. The most popular were the classic spots on the map of Warsaw - Łazienki Królewskie, the Royal Castle and the Museum of King Jan III's Palace in Wilanów, which invariably delight with their history and beauty.

Rafał Trzaskowski, the president of the capital, emphasizes the desire to make Warsaw increasingly attractive to tourists, which is confirmed by the title of the best tourist destination in the ranking "European Best Destination 2023". The capital does not cease in investments that aim to improve the quality of the tourist offer, such as the New Center of Warsaw or the construction of a pedestrian and bicycle bridge to Praga.

A new feature in this year's report is the use of big data to monitor tourist traffic, which allowed for a more precise estimate of the number of visits to Warsaw, including those without overnight stays. These results indicate 14.8 million visits during the year.

The meetings sector is also showing signs of recovery with nearly 9,000 events planned in 2022, proving Warsaw’s role as a leader in organizing corporate events and conferences in Poland.

The report "Tourism in Warsaw" provides not only data, but also inspiration for all those interested in the development and promotion of the city as a tourist destination. The full version of the report is available at The Capital Tourism Office and in the tab knowledge, we encourage you to read it.
