Urgent appeal for organizing a round table
Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, more than 550,000 Ukrainians have passed through Warsaw alone, and the capital's population has increased by about 17 percent, according to the report "31 Days of War in Ukraine" prepared by the Self-Government Movement Yes! For Poland. Local government officials are appealing for the acceptance of international aid, the creation of a system of voluntary refugee relocation and the organization of a round table.
In the coming days, Poland will probably become the country with the largest number of refugees in the world. Currently, it is estimated that almost 3 million children, women and men have arrived, forced to flee war, while during the biggest crisis in recent times, 2014-2015, the whole of Europe accepted about 1.5 million refugees over a period 12 times longer.
The report "31 Days of War in Ukraine" summarizes the most important events and processes concerning the functioning of the Polish state during the first 31 days of the war beyond Poland's eastern border. The acceptance of such a large number of people is possible thanks to the unprecedented effort of Poles, who not only accept Ukrainians under their roofs, but also organize thousands of aid actions in local communities.
The Local Government Movement Yes! For Poland brings together over 300 commune heads, mayors and presidents, representing over 22 million residents of Polish cities, towns and metropolises.
