Meeting of WOT with the president of POT

On April 23, the WOT Management Board met online with the President of POT, Mr. Rafał Szlachta.

The following topics were discussed during the conversation:

  1. Promotion on the domestic market.
    1. We presented the results of our survey. We provided the numbers regarding the services sold for Polish Tourist Voucher. We informed that statistics show that the PBT phrase used in the GOOGLE search engine generates the most visits to the page www.Odkrytajwarszawe.pl for this reason we asked for more intensive promotion of city tourism in the context of PBT in promotional tools used by POT.
    2. Design Tourist School – we have collected scenarios, developed promotional materials and launched a nationwide competition in which we will fund a 3-day stay for a class of 25 people serve to stimulate demand for school trips to Warsaw (which can also be paid for with a voucher).
    3. Reservation and sales system for services provided by WOT members – we asked for support for launching and implementing.
  2. Promotion abroad:
    1. We actively participate in all POT activities (workshops, fairs), although we noticed that in order to generate greater demand in the future, after the pandemic ends, it is necessary consider implementing larger campaigns aimed at promoting selected product areas.
    2. We thanked you for the reports and analyses you received and we suggested conducting webinars for the industry with the participation of ZOPOT directors, who would present current information from the markets.
    3. We have appealed for signing agreements with Israel, following the example of the agreement signed between Israel and e.g. Cyprus or Turkey for permission for tourist and business traffic for people vaccinated against COVID-19 without the need to introduce restrictions and quarantine.
    4. We suggested organizing an international workshop with the participation of foreign industry and Polish industry representatives.
    5. We asked to return to the idea submitted by Metropolitan LOT in April 2020, which concerns the creation of "a safe tourist guide”. The guide would be distributed on foreign markets (not necessarily in printed form), it could be a kind of bookmark on polska.travel portals in language versions.
  3. In the area of MICE tourism
    1. We informed about the sales processes that have been initiated and about support for two major events.
    2. We also presented the idea of a Trade Fair Voucher for exhibitors of such events taking place in the country.

A positive conclusion of this constructive meeting was also the recognition by the President of POT of the important role that active and committed local tourist organizations (such as WOT) play in the Polish tourism promotion system – especially in times of crisis.
