Tourist school, online lessons
In August 2020, we began cooperation with the Polish Tourism Organization on a project carried out under the patronage of the Ministry of National Education. The project consists of developing scenarios for school trips, and its aim is to create a tool supporting teaching staff, in education and in planning school trips. Due to the situation related to COVID 19, the project has been suspended.
Ultimately, the scenarios we have prepared are to be presented on the project website. We have tried to include in our programs, in addition to well-known and popular places and attractions, those that are not yet widely known and that can be an inspiration for effective teaching, both for teachers and school youth. In the scenarios we have prepared, we have presented the cultural and historical aspect of our city. The proposals include:
available on the website:
"Warsaw – for sporting emotions"
"Frederic Chopin's Warsaw"
"Warsaw – great fun"
in graphic design:
"Warsaw with art on first name terms"
"Warsaw royally"
"Warsaw, unique and unrepeatable"
Some of the programs are available at the link https://wot.waw.pl/turystyczna-szkola/
Due to the dynamically changing situation and subsequent restrictions introduced by the government, related to, among other things, the change in the way both schools and cultural institutions operate, we decided to expand the "Tourism School" project with an online offer, which we developed together with our members. We were strengthened in this idea by the EduAkcja 2020 museum conference, organized by the Culture Office and the Education Office of the Capital City of Warsaw, the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews and the Museum of Modern Art, during which the capital's institutions presented their ideas for remote learning. During the conference, the results of research conducted by the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, carried out in the period March-June among the capital's educational institutions, were presented. It results that 541 TP3T respondents took advantage of the online educational offer, 461 TP3T did not, and the main reason was the lack of knowledge on the subject. Interestingly, 67% people who have already taken advantage of the online offer are planning to register their school for such classes also in the first semester of the 2020/2021 school year.
We hope that the online lesson ideas described in the list we present will inspire many teachers of history, music, chemistry or physics lessons, and for students, they will make the new, more difficult education they have to face more attractive.
The collected offers can be found at the link: https://odkrywajwarszawe.pl/turystyczna-szkola/
We will forward information about the above offer of the capital's cultural institutions in the new school semester to educational institutions, the Ministry of National Education, Education Departments in City Offices and Education Boards, and we will gradually adapt it to the changes introduced in teaching.
