Warsaw breaks visitor records
Last year, Warsaw was visited by almost 21 million guests from Poland and abroad. This is a record compared to previous years. The capital is strengthening its position as an attractive destination for both tourists and business travelers.
Over 12 million are tourists who spent at least one night in the capital. The remaining less than 9 million are one-day visitors who came to Warsaw for just one day. Tourists choose Warsaw because of its rich cultural, entertainment and gastronomic offer, unique history, interesting monuments and architecture, as well as the possibility of relaxing by the Vistula River. The capital also hosts thousands of business and scientific events that attract participants from all over the world.
The growing number of tourists shows that investments in new attractions and promotion of the city are bringing results. Warsaw is constantly strengthening its position as an attractive tourist destination - both for people looking for relaxation and business guests. It positively surprises with constant changes, focuses on accessibility, comfort and an inspiring atmosphere for all who decide to visit it.
Where do tourists come from?
According to estimates, 8.6 million tourists from Poland visited the capital last year – that is 17% more than in 2023. The largest number came from the Silesian, Lesser Poland and Lower Silesian voivodeships. 3.6 million tourists came from outside Poland. Their number increased significantly – by 58% compared to 2023. The largest number of foreign guests came from Ukraine (900 thousand), the United States (377 thousand), Germany (277 thousand), Great Britain, Lithuania and Italy. In total, 2.6 million more tourists came to Warsaw compared to 2023 (+27%).
What do tourists appreciate in Warsaw?
The most popular tourist attraction in the capital remains the Old Town. Tourists also willingly visited the Royal Łazienki Museum and the Palace of Culture and Science. For the first time, the Vistula and the areas located on the river: boulevards, beaches and paths on the right bank were high on the list. Among the various tourist offers in Warsaw, tourists rated the cultural, gastronomic and commercial offers the highest. They also appreciated the high quality of public transport.
The newest attractions are enjoying growing interest, including the new building of the Museum of Modern Art, the interactive E. Wedel Chocolate Factory Museum and the pedestrian and bicycle bridge over the Vistula River.
The bridge, which connects the Vistula Boulevards with Old Praga as part of the New Center of Warsaw project, quickly became the city's showpiece. It is an ideal place for a walk, admiring the panorama of the capital or meeting with loved ones. The bridge offers a breathtaking view of the Vistula and the surrounding areas, and its steel structure fits in perfectly with the surroundings, emphasizing the modern character of Warsaw.
