Warsaw at FITUR 2021 in Madrid
The FITUR trade fair took place in Madrid from 19 to 23 May 2021, postponed from its usual January date due to COVID-19 restrictions. The trade fair was held in a stationary format, under strict sanitary regime: during the first three industry days, the condition for entry to the fair was to present a negative COVID test, it was not possible to organize additional promotional events at stands, and printed materials could only be made available at the request of visitors.
Although arrival in Spain required presentation of a negative PCR result, and the obligation to take an additional test before entering the fair limited the attendance of visitors even from Madrid itself, the Polish National Stand still enjoyed interest. We also had the opportunity to talk to journalists and local tour operators about joint ideas for promotional campaigns in the autumn and winter seasons.
Warsaw continued to be welcomed with great enthusiasm during the public open days weekend and this will certainly be reflected in travel to the capital when the current travel restrictions are lifted. In the face of the current difficulties, Spaniards seem to be relying even more on trusted travel agencies and travel agents when planning their holidays, which is important news for the Polish inbound tourism industry.
Together with Warsaw, there were 9 exhibitors at the Polish National Stand: Lublin, Lower Silesian Tourist Organization + Wrocław, Małopolska Tourist Organization + Kraków, Gościnne Zabytki, and tour operators: Mazurkas, Mazovian Travel, Poland Tour and Vengo.

The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Polish Tourist Organisation, Rafał Szlachta, who was officially welcomed by the Spanish royal couple.
