Warsaw is number 1 in The Times' city break ranking for 2026

Warsaw has taken first place in the "16 of the best city breaks in Europe in 2026" ranking, compiled by The Times and The Sunday Times travel editors. The list includes the most interesting European cities for a short break in 2026.

The editors of the travel magazine emphasized that the Polish capital stands out for its unique atmosphere, history, and dynamic culinary scene. The article highlighted, among other things, the Old Town, rebuilt after World War II, with its distinctive market square and the Warsaw Mermaid statue.

The authors of the list also recommend visiting new cultural institutions, such as the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, as well as visiting places that show the city's history from a different perspective, such as the Museum of Life in the Polish People's Republic.

The article also praises Warsaw's gastronomic scene, which has been developing dynamically in recent years. At the same time, the editors emphasize that a visit to a traditional milk bar is an equally interesting experience.

At the end of the day, a walk along the Vistula River is recommended – especially around the Vistula Boulevards, which have become one of the favorite meeting places for locals and tourists.

This is another important distinction for Warsaw in recent months. Earlier this year, the city also ranked second in The New York Times' "52 Places to Go in 2026" ranking.
