"Together for tourism". Experts from city offices and local tourist organizations of the largest Polish cities signed a declaration of cooperation.
The Department of City Promotion and Tourism in cooperation with the Union of Polish Metropolises and the Convention Bureau – Wrocław once again invited representatives of local governments responsible for tourism promotion in their cities to the capital of Lower Silesia. Representatives of local tourist organizations were also invited to participate.
The result of the meeting, which took place at the Radisson Blu Hotel on 9-10 June this year, was the signing of the declaration "Together for tourism". The document indicates in which areas representatives of local government units of the largest Polish cities and their local tourist organizations can deepen their current cooperation. These include the social, scientific, legal and image areas. Importantly, the declaration emphasizes independence and competitiveness in creating and promoting own tourist brands or other activities.
The meeting was opened by Mr. Sergiusz Kmiecik, Chairman of the Wrocław City Council and Mr. Piotr Polak, Coordinator of the Union of Polish Metropolises. A letter from the President of the Polish Tourist Organization, which assumed patronage of the event, was also read.
Mr. Konrad Guldon, Director of the Foreign Centre of the Polish Tourist Organisation in Berlin, also gave a speech. He referred to the German market and the perspectives of German tourists towards the tourist attractiveness of Poland. This market is one of the most important areas of tourist promotion. Then, during the panel, Ms. Natalia Kulec-Greń from the Krakow City Office and Ms. Agnieszka Szymerowska, President of the Wrocław Tourist Organisation, shared their experiences related to the challenges facing new local tourist organisations.
The aspect of tourism research and reports was raised during workshops and lectures by invited guests. Dr. Krzysztof Cieślikowski from the Academy of Physical Education in Katowice outlined the framework of the prepared report "The market of events in the largest cities in Poland". The meeting industry is an inseparable element of tourism and influences the development of Polish cities. Professor Piotr Oleśniewicz from the Academy of Physical Education in Wrocław pointed to the special importance of tourism research. His speech was an introduction to the workshops on the implementation of joint research.
The participants had the opportunity to take advantage of the tourist attractions offered by Wrocław again, visiting the Four Domes Pavilion with the exhibition of Magdalena Abakanowicz. They also visited the Odra Centrum. They also participated in a special organ concert in the garrison church of St. Elizabeth. This is a special event, because the instrument was rebuilt after a fire in 1976. From the beginning of 2022, Wrocław residents and tourists can once again hear the sounds of the famous "Voice of Silesia"
The meeting was attended by representatives of Kraków, Poznań, Gdańsk, Łódź, Warsaw, Lublin, Bydgoszcz, Opole, Rzeszów and Wrocław.
