Results of an international study on the impact of Covid-19 on the tourism sector
The tourism sector has been particularly hard hit by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Travel Advance as a member Travel Consul, an international association of agencies and organizations specializing in tourism marketing, joined the global study of the tourism industry during the coronavirus pandemic. Representatives of the tourism industry from the most important emission markets in the world, dealing with the distribution of tourism products (owners of travel agencies, tour operators, sales agents - GSA) were invited to participate in the study. The aim of the study was to gain a detailed understanding of the current situation, current needs and to determine the prospects for the future.
The information obtained during the study is intended to help develop new strategies that will support tourist destinations and other entities in the tourism industry to resume their operations as quickly as possible and return to business efficiently. The results of the study may also be useful for selected national tourism organizations to better serve the current and future needs of the industry.
Today, Travel Advanced shared with us the results of an international study of the travel industry, which it conducted in cooperation with Travel Consul. In the online study, conducted in May this year, over 900 tour operators from around the world determined what impact the COVID-19 pandemic will have on their business. We also distributed the survey among members of our association.
We would like to thank those of you who took part in this project for your help and time.
The results of the research show that as many as 69% respondents considered tourist boards, associations of tour operators and travel agencies to be the best source of information during the pandemic.
Next on the list were DMOs, industry media, the government and industry friends.
For the last three months, we have tried to be a reliable source of information for you, we have tried to provide ad hoc and systematic support to the association's members. We have changed external communication to direct mailing to members, we have been an intermediary in the dialogue between entrepreneurs, public administration and local government. We have operated on the basis of a plan specially designed for the time of crisis. We have not given up on marketing activities, but we have significantly reduced their costs, we have adapted them to the actual situation.
We strongly believe that tourism in Warsaw will recover with our joint participation!
